Layer 3 (Postlife) is home to a vast and varied population of gods unbound by the Gods' Law. Major and minor deities, ancestral spirits, judges of souls, self-ascended powers, dynasty-spirits, place-gods, deep cults, and patrons whose names are spoken in only one valley. The Postlife holds them all. They are created and sustained by belief: a god remembered survives, a god forgotten dissolves back into the Wellspring. Mortal cults, churches, household shrines, and the steady weight of folk practice are what keep them shaped and present.
None maintain a sanctum on Talan; the Gods' Law keeps them on their side of the veil. Worshippers pray, the prayer crosses, and the answer comes back through grants, omens, and dreams. The figures below are the Layer-3 residents whose portfolios appear most often in clerical practice on Talan, a small selection from a much larger field.
The Kyūbi-no-Den · The Nine-Tailed Hall. The kitsune ancestral pantheon of Emarrea. Three named gods sit the Hall, all Minor and all Elysium-resident; the kitsune say the other six seats wait on ancestral spirits, place-spirits, or stories not yet long enough to fill them. The number nine echoes the kitsune nine-tail mastery ladder and the Heartcourt's nine pillars. Elysium residency reflects the pantheon's devotional centre of gravity: love freely given, communal feast, the kindness-trickster ethic. None of the three appear in person on the Material Plane; the Compact closes that road to all Layer-3 residents.
Uthra · the Out-Longing. Sharing the radiant plane but none of the Hall is Uthra, the belief-formed god of wanderlust and the open road, who keeps no kingdom in Elysium and no temple anywhere. Where the Kyūbi-no-Den anchor the hearth, Uthra is the god of leaving it: adventurers and mendicants are his, and his worship is the wayside cairn, never a shrine.
Bolverk · The Megacity in Abyss →
Abyss also holds the infernal megacity, where the souls harvested on Talan are processed into power: the seven Vice Demons and the fourteen Virtue Devils, across the Tunsund. They have their own page.
